Fee defaults used — read this before you rely on them
Fiverr: flat 20% seller commission on earnings.
Upwork: variable 0–15% per contract, locked for that contract; 10% is used here as the default because it is Upwork's own worked example. Use your actual contract rate.
Freelancer.com: 10% of the winning bid, or $5 minimum, whichever is greater (the table uses 10%; on very small jobs the $5 minimum can matter more).
PayPal invoice paid by bank (ACH, US domestic): 1%, capped at $10.
PayPal direct Goods & Services send (US domestic): 2.99%.
Wise USD bank-details receive via domestic ACH: $0 in the example used here. International payments, currency conversion and other rails add fees.
Direct bank transfer / ACH (US domestic, non-wire): $0 in this table.
Estimates only, not financial advice. Platforms change their fee schedules, and your country, plan, contract and payment rail can change the result. Always check the platform's own current fee page before you invoice or accept a contract. International PayPal payments can add a cross-border fee, and Wise conversion fees vary by corridor — this calculator models the US-domestic USD cases listed above, plus the Upwork/Fiverr platform fees, so you can compare them quickly.
